Environmental & Social Impact Assessments (Esias)

Environmental & Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) is the process of identifying, predicting, evaluating, and mitigating the biophysical, social, and other impacts of proposed projects on the environment and surrounding communities.

To deliver these assessments, we have a registered and reliable multi-disciplinary team of experts drawn from fields such as:

  • Environmental Sciences

  • Ecology

  • Pedology (soil science)

  • Hydrology

  • Engineering

  • Social Sciences

This diverse expertise allows us to tailor teams according to the nature and scope of each project.

Our Experience and Scope of Work

The ESIA team has collectively conducted hundreds of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) studies across the region, both independently and in collaboration with leading firms such as SustiGlobal. Our consultancy work often extends to:

  • Relocation Action Planning (RAP)

  • Environmental & Social Management Frameworks (ESMF)

  • Exhumation and relocation of graves along electricity transmission lines, roadways, and pipeline projects

  • GIS mapping and analysis to identify and recommend optimal project routes

We are highly experienced in projects classified under Category A and B of the Equator Principles (EPs), in line with the First Schedule of the Environmental Management Act (CAP 20:27) of Zimbabwe. These projects include, but are not limited to:

  • Dams, man-made lakes, and irrigation schemes

  • Conversion of forest land to other uses

  • Land and housing developments

  • Industrial facilities (tanneries, smelting, abattoirs, etc.)

  • Infrastructure (highways, railways, airports)

  • Mining, quarrying, and ore processing

  • Petroleum production, storage, and distribution

  • Thermal, solar, and hydro power generation

  • Power transmission projects

  • Tourist resorts and recreational developments

  • Waste disposal and treatment (including landfills)

Through these partnerships, we have successfully tendered for and executed projects funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the World Bank (WB). Our reports have consistently surpassed client expectations and met the highest international standards.
